What is Nightmare in AION 2?
Nightmare is a solo boss ladder that opens at level 45. You fight bosses alone, push through 10 challenge levels per boss, and earn Phantasmal Fragments for the Nightmare shop. It needs no group and no schedule, which makes it the most reliable weekly source of Daevanion Crystals and Stigma Shards. It sits around 1,400 item level on the endgame route.
How do Nightmare attempts work?
- 2 attempts per day, stored up to 14. Charges start building at level 45, so reach it before your first weekly reset.
- An attempt is only spent when you kill the boss. Wipes are free: leave, upgrade, try again.
- Clearing a higher challenge level also grants the first-clear rewards of every level below it.

The range is the suggested item level from challenge level 1 to 10. Work through the common bosses first, then the rare ones, and save Zikel’s Apparition for last. Bring HP potions, cleanse potions and food for Zikel.
What should you buy with Phantasmal Fragments?
A first clear pays 500 fragments; a repeat clear pays 100.
